This is Gigi again with another post about helpful tips to keep you organized. We here at Miss Bonny Blossom make printables that are tools for a more organized and chaos-free life.  I use these printables in real life to keep my life as a stay at home mom as orderly as possible. Let me tell, that’s hard when you are raising five children. The question I often get is: With a running both a business and a household how do you stay organized?

Well, I’m going to give a few helpful tips that will help you both manage your time and your busy life!

Lists Are Your Friend!

From Grocery lists to detailed todo list a list can save your sanity! I use lists all the time! I tend to organize my todo lists especially in categories and then break them down in priorities. If I do the highest priorities first, and I don’t get to the other stuff then that is perfectly fine.  No matter how long or large your to-do list is your top priorities tasks are not as long as the whole to-do list. This will save you tons of stress when you have a lot of different tasks from work, family, and home.

Calenders

I use both paper calendars and Google calendars to keep track of my dates. With my brain, I actually seem to remember things more if write things down.  My method of crossposting is fail-safe. If I lose my paper Calender, I have it backed up on my phone. The thing with Google Calendars that they sync with every device,

Stay Focused

With social media,  I have a hard time staying focused. It’s something I struggle with all the time, and I know I’m not the only one. The way I stay focused is that I use the Pomodoro method and just simply putting all of my devices and my laptop on airplane mode.  With no internet, I’m forced to buckle down and get things done.

Schedule A Head of Time

I’m addicted to scheduling things ahead of time.  When it comes to work and family, I always do things well before the scheduled deadline so that it frees up time for me to do other things and I won’t be scrambling to get things done at the last minute.

Of course, you can’t schedule everything. Life, unfortunately, sometimes does not work that way. However, I suggest you really think about all the tasks you have to do on a daily or weekly basis and see what things you can schedule ahead of time. Then do it ahead a time, schedule it and move on to the next task!

Ask For Help!

When you are a work at home mom, you are juggling so many metaphorical balls in the air that it’s only a matter of time until you drop a few of them.  When stressed out, take a deep breath, and ask yourself: “Do I need to ask for help for this task?”  Sometimes, the answer will be no. Yet, you will be surprised how many times that the answer to your dilemma is to ask for help. Can’t buy groceries and pick up the kids at the same time? Ask your partner or your parents to pick up the kids.  You need time to work without the kids in your hair?  Ask for someone to watch the kids for a while.  I know a lot of us to think that we can do everything on our own, but that is simply not true.

Sometimes, it’s best to lean on your support group be it your partner, your friends, or your family for help.
